The works were carried out under ICE 5th conditions for the refurbishment of this footbridge originally built in 1988 to coincide with the Glasgow Garden Festival. The 3-span bridge links the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) with Pacific Quay on the south side of the river and the refurbishment works included installation of bridge locking, piles/concreting of existing piles, refurbishment of M&E and steelwork, installation of lighting (including navigation lighting), painting and reconstruction of approach ramps.
Key Issues:
• Works – such as blast cleaning and painting – carried out over the River Clyde
• Close liaison with Marine Scotland, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and Clydeport
• Working in close proximity to local businesses including BBC Scotland and STV
