The project comprised the redevelopment of Uig Harbour to upgrade the existing ferry terminal with new infrastructure, improving the ferry service and provide a safer, enhanced experience for all users.
RJ McLeod was appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver the works, which included foreshore reclamation, piling for the new terminal building foundations and widening of the approach way structure by 6m through the construction of an open tubular steel piled precast and /in situ concrete suspended deck.
The pierhead was partially demolished and reinstated, with the existing dolphins replaced by new structures. The works also included construction of a new bankseat and linkspan, widening of the berthing structure by 16m using a solid steel piled in situ concrete structure, installation of new fenderline piles, fender units and pier furniture, resurfacing of the existing marshalling and reclamation areas, repairs to existing concrete and installation of new services.
