We were Principal Contractor on this project for the placement of a new 300m-long precast concrete seawall in front of the existing seawall structure, with placement of infill material behind the new structure and extension of promenade surfacing to the line of the new wall. The original steps were encapsulated within the replacement seawall and replacement steps/ramp access to the beach were constructed. Scour protection, new guardrails and resurfacing of the existing promenade were also included in the works. The existing seawall remained in position until the new permanent seawall was formed.

Points of Interest
Working on the foreshore within a tidal environment, majority of the works within the MHWS level
Existing seawall had been undermined resulting in the presence of voids within the existing promenade
Careful planning and phasing to minimise disruption to residents - limitations on site working hours due to close proximity with particular attention required for noise and vibration monitoring
Ecological and environmental constraints to working adjacent to/within existing watercourses
Logistics involved in coordinating works along a narrow working corridor, with exclusion zones in place
Extensive Community Benefits in place including providing local employment, engaging with local schools and engaging with local supply chain
