RJ McLeod was Principal Contractor for the enlargement of the existing dry dock at Kishorn as part of a major redevelopment of the port to support future offshore energy and marine infrastructure projects.
The development will increase capacity for vessel decommissioning, oil and gas infrastructure works, and the future manufacture of floating offshore wind turbine foundations.
The project involves extending the existing dry dock through the formation of a 100m-long, 60m-wide and 35m-deep rock cutting, enabling vessels of up to 200m in length to access the facility. Material excavated from the enlargement is being reused to create 8.5 hectares of reclaimed hardstanding. The works also include excavation of overburden, rock excavation by blasting, surface water drainage, rock netting, installation of mooring points using rock anchors and construction of a 3,800m³ reinforced concrete slab
