Inverness West Link Stage 2

Client: The Highland Council

As Principal Contractor, RJ McLeod delivered the construction of a new swing bridge over the Caledonian Canal, together with the associated road infrastructure forming Stage 2 of the Inverness West Link. The Project included demolition of a former clubhouse, construction of a new roundabout, approach roads, footpaths and an underpass, together with extensive M&E design and installation. The works also comprised construction of sheet piled abutments and wharf structures, with the new 40m-span hydraulic swing bridge constructed adjacent to the existing crossing. Variable message signs were installed to manage traffic movements during bridge openings, with landscaping and tree planting completing the project.
