Client: Falkirk Council

We were Principal Contractor for the construction of a new 1.4km link road, designed to ease congestion in and around Denny Cross. The project included earthworks (cut/fill), construction of pavements, culvert and SUDS pond, installation of streetlighting, signage, fencing and landscaping.

Principal Elements

  • Excavation/deposition 10,000m3

  • Topsoil strip/deposition 5,000m3

  • Ducting 600m

  • Stormwater drainage 2,000m

  • Manholes/catchpits 115 no.

  • Drainage gravel 7,140m3

  • Imported Class 1 material 19,000m3

  • Capping (6F5) 4,500m3

  • Kerbing 2,000m

  • Pre-cast concrete box culvert 1 no.

  • Type 1 sub-base 4,000m3

  • Surfacing 9,500m2

Points of Interest

  • Several utility diversions being managed through the works including 3 no. 33/11kv overhead line SPEN diversions and a BT Openreach diversion

  • Scottish Water watermain protection works

  • Installation of new 24m-long box culvert to permanently divert Little Denny Burn

  • Localised areas of ground improvement works requiring excavation and replacement with engineering fill to a maximum of 4m below ground level

  • Management of existing Public Rights of Way requiring to be diverted and maintained throughout

  • Liaison with school in close proximity to the works

  • Extensive Community Benefits in place including providing local employment, engaging with local schools and engaging with local supply chain
