The purpose of the contract was to construct a new containment cell for North Ayrshire Council as the existing cell had almost reached capacity. The works consisted of importing approxmately 40,000m3 of clay from a local quarry to form and seal the cell, this material being imported and placed within 6 weeks to achieve programme. HDPE Geomembrane was installed, welded and tested to ensure integrity. Drainage pipes were placed at the floor of the cell to direct the water to the lowest corner of the site to then be pumped out during the filling of the cell with waste.

Clay Liner 7,500m3
Gravel 2,500m3
Sand 2,500m3
