The works were located approximately 4km north of Dunoon and comprised of site clearance, excavation, construction of a Bentonite Enriched Soil liner and placement of a welded High Density Polyethylene liner, the placement of drainage, protection and separation geotextiles, the construction of a leachate collection system, construction of a new vehicle access ramp and replacement site access track and installation of replacement chainlink fencing.

 

Principal Elements included:

20,000m3 Excavation: 4,000m3 BES
8,000m2 HDPE Liner: 8,000m2 Fleece Liner
30,000m3 Suitable Fill

  • Adverse weather effects due to location resulting in many water filtration and retention schemes
  • Use of local materials
  • Extensive evaluation of BES mix (7%) with as-dug sand/gravel (93%)
