Project Description

Auchinlea Landfill Site (Phase IX): Value £1.19M, Programme 20 Weeks
Works were recently completed for the installation of Geosynthetic Clay Liner and HDPE geomembrane liner, placement of drainage, protection and separation geotextiles to Phase 8 Cell, construction of a leachate collection sump and leachate collection pipework and placement of leachate drainage blanket. An access road was constructed to serve the area.

Auchinlea Landfill Cell Engineering (Phase VIII) & Capping (Phases IV & V): Value £0.81M, Programme 16 Weeks
This ICE 6th Edition Contract (amended) was for the construction of the Phase 8 landfill cell at Auchinlea Amenity Site It included excavation and land forming, clay and HDPE liners, drainage blanket and leachate collection system. Additional works to cap Phases 4 and 5 with engineered clay liner and subsoil including drainage blanket were also carried out. The contract also included site roads and ditch crossings, drainage, fencing and landscaping. The works were constructed to tight specification within narrow programme, due to lack of additional tip space at the facility.

Auchinlea Landfill (Phase VII) Containment Works & Restoration (Phase III): Value £0.73M, Programme 16 Weeks
The contract includes all permanent and temporary works in connection with the development of part of the Auchinlea Landfill Site for use as a new landfill containment cell (Phase 7). It involved excavation and land forming, clay liner and HDPE liner placement, slope stabilisation, leachate collection, leachate drainage blanket and associated ancillary works. Also included - in connection with the restoration of Phase 3 - were excavation and land forming including reprofiling of deposited waste, clay capping, placement of drainage geotextiles and restoration soils, grass seeding, drainage pipe runs and drainage ditches.
