The works were located at Bank Street and South Bridge Street in Airdrie and comprised the removal of existing hardstanding, metal grid drainage system, trees, seats etc, and the slight lowering of the existing road level. New construction included road surfacing, footway areas and road crossings of Caithness and Altaquartzite slabs and Granite setts, new service covers, street lighting and street furniture.
Principal Elements included:
Caithness Paving 2,000m2
Granite Setts & Trims 700m2
Carriageway Resurfacing 2,800m2
Reclaimed Whin Kerbing 700m
Key Issues:
- Specially designed metal bollards and sandstone seating areas
- roprietary bedding and jointing system for paving
- Substantial interface with both the public and shopkeepers
- Completed 13 weeks earlier than contract period (26 weeks instead of 39)
