The project consisted of a new access road, bus turning and parking facilities and upgrading of the existing car park to accommodate 240 parking spaces. 1,200m of existing carriageway was reconstructed using modern recycling processes. Included within the project is an 850m diversion of a 63mm diameter water main.
The St Andrews Links Trust and the R&A were co-funders on the project and a key concern was the potential disruption of the high-profile Dunhill Cup. Through close co-operation and careful programming, the main works were completed early to avoid disruption.
