Construction of a new ferry terminal with mass concrete berthing structure and slipway, construction of a yacht wall and 300m long rock causeway with rock armour protection to side slopes and tarmac road on top. 3 cofferdams were constructed, the deepest being to –4.2m CD. Accommodation works include stone clad waiting room and 7m high storage building, fuel storage tanks, livestock handling area, gas cylinder storage compound and refurbishment of existing 60m pier including fenders, bollards and furniture. Sand and rock dredging to access channel and construction of associated offshore navigation aids and markers were also included. The project received a Construction Commendation at the 2004 Saltire Awards.
