The project concerned the upgrading/new construction of roads infrastructure associated with the development of Langlands West Strategic Investment Site, East Kilbride, including the provision of access roads with associated drainage and lighting, provision for service supplies to the new site and diversion of existing public utility services to accommodate the works. Management of existing traffic routes was also required.
Principal Elements included:
Upgraded Carriageway 7,600m2
New Carriageway 14,000m2
Service Ducting 1,500m
Key Issues:
- Construction of SUDS surface water detention basin
- Works within and adjacent to existing water course, and adjacent to woodland wildlife area
- Slope stabilisation by soil nailing
- Works in close proximity to overhead electricity cables and pylons
